What Happens When a RahaKaitse Dispute Is Raised?

Most RahaKaitse transactions complete smoothly with no disagreement at all, but knowing what happens if one does arise makes the whole system easier to trust going in.

What triggers a dispute

A dispute typically arises when a buyer believes the item doesn't match what was described, arrived damaged, or never arrived at all, and the two parties can't resolve it directly through messaging. Rather than releasing funds automatically or leaving the buyer to simply lose their payment, the deposit stays locked in the smart contract while the dispute is reviewed.

What each side should provide

  • Buyers should provide clear evidence of the issue — photos or video of the item as received, screenshots of the original listing, and a clear description of the discrepancy.
  • Sellers should provide proof of what was shipped and its condition — photos taken before shipping, proof of postage or tracking information, and the original listing details.

How a resolution is reached

The evidence from both sides is reviewed to determine a fair outcome — this might mean releasing the funds to the seller, refunding the buyer, or in some cases a partial resolution, depending on what the evidence supports. Because the funds are held neutrally in the smart contract throughout this process, neither side can simply keep both the money and the item while a dispute is being reviewed.

Reducing the chance of a dispute in the first place

Clear, honest listings, thorough photos, and prompt communication resolve most potential disagreements before they ever need to become a formal dispute. Keeping all communication on Kaubaplats messaging also means there's already a clear record available if a dispute does need to be reviewed.
